About Pamela Mayer
Pamela Mayer is a graduate of Pratt Institute where she studied Fashion, in love with the process of hand made clothing Pamela worked with small indie designers in NYC. While working with small handcrafted labels, Mayer was schooled in fabric dyeing, clothing production, construction, renegade fashion shows and shoots as well as wholesaling.
Upon realizing that she wanted a kinder gentler lifestyle, a more ethical way to make clothing and way more space Pamela relocated to the Narrowsburg, NY area with her now Husband Karl Wasner - in Narrowsburg Mayer found her footing, she found a beautiful, spacious studio nestled on the Delaware River and that was where she settled during the years of 1998 - 2004. This was the space she would open her leather goods wholesale business, where she would reignite her love of making clothing and segued into a clothing wholesale business, this was the time period we found our mainstay collaborator Barbara Zweig, she's a master pattern maker and seamstress, we couldn't have created this without her. in 2004 Pamela welcomed her first son Gabriel into the studio life...
Sometime in 2004 a building down the street was available and the designers jumped at the opportunity to buy a building and create a stunning studio with even more light and river views...This was the studio of her dreams, so much creativity soared thru that space. Dreams imagined and time spent in tranquility with Gabriel playing and Pamela making and designing. Then in 2006 a retail space became available in the building and with encouragement from her husband and the other merchants she opened a "pop-up", just for 6 weeks which turned into 17 years....what a journey. Pamela had a 2nd son Marcello in 2008, who became her store baby.
Mayer made it her mission very early on to make clothes responsibly and ethically - she wanted there to be an ethos and integrity behind the brand and she wanted her pieces to become part of the wearers life for years to come. Modern day heirlooms...
