Pamela Mayer is a graduate of Pratt Institute where she studied under the tutelage of industry greats Byron Lars and Isabel and Ruben Toledo. Upon finishing her education, Mayer was hired by J. Morgan Puett to work under Gary Graham on the design team. While working with the small handcrafted label, Mayer was schooled in fabric dyeing, clothing production, construction, indie fashion shows and wholesaling.
In 1997, living in DUMBO, Mayer was invited to participate in the "Dumbo: Art Under the Bridge" arts festival which launched the beginning of her own collection. She began by creating a small luxury line of leather bags that she sold on Mercer street each weekend alongside her husband Karl Wasner. Her love of all things leather and natural fibers as luxury fabrics can be seen today in Mayer's namesake clothing line which focuses on the cut and the fit of each garment. Proud that just 4 to 5 people are involved with the production of each handmade piece, Pamela Mayer is available exclusively at MayerWasner.
