Namai Studio

Born in England to artist parents, designer Bianca Kuttickattu had a fondness for nature and making things from an early age. Her love of vintage and second hand clothing brought her to an interest in fashion, studying at the Institut Francais de la Mode in Paris she began working with Martin Margiela, Celine, Acne and Rag & Bone. Her experiences in the clothing industry influenced her commitment to zero waste production and a more sustainable path. During the pandemic in 2020 Bianca was on hiatus from work - she was splitting her time between Brooklyn and a small town in Upstate New York. While living in Mountaindale and reconnecting with simple pleasures of her early years; crafting, immersing herself in nature and creating pieces with care and intention. Namai Studios was created, using repurposed vintage Indian textiles - Kantha quilts. Kantha quilting is the traditional Bengali craft of patching together and embroidering cloth and saris. By the time our designs are sewn, our fabric is on its third life-cycle and has passed through the hands of generations of women. Each piece is one of kind - with hundreds of hours of craft and construction.
